Let me see ya grill…

Everything reminds me of a rap song these days. Harper now has a second tooth coming in – whoa! His first tooth is taking its sweet freakin’ time coming up, but the second one is moving a lot faster. I’m going to post a picture of what the teething process has looked like for him, but before I do, let me explain why. I Google just about everything. I was always curious to know what teething gums looked like. I read all about them, but I am a very visual person and I needed a picture. Anytime I tried to find one on Google, I couldn’t! It was always something like this:

I don’t know…it was just annoying. Anyways, I decided that when Harper started to cut teeth, if I could actually tell what was going on, I’d take a picture of it and post it to the blog. I figured if I posted it to the blog and said “teething gums” a lot in my post,  some other crazy momma on a quest to find teething gum pictures may be directed here. Who knows. Here are the teething gum pictures:

Looks a little gross doesn’t it? Yeah…I know.

I noticed his tooth for the first time on May 18th. It was so faint in the picture that I had to draw an arrow pointing to it. I was so excited about Harp getting a tooth that I e-mailed a picture of it to Susanna and my mom. Can we say dork? I actually wasn’t even certain that it was his tooth coming through, but I took a picture just in case – now I’m glad I did!

Everything I read about teething proved to be true for us. He was really fussy about two weeks prior to the tooth actually coming through the gums. For about three days straight he was irritable, would wake up just about every hour at night, wanted to be held constantly, refused food, etc.  That was the only time he acted like that though. He hasn’t fussed at all while they’ve been coming through the gums. I guess the hard part is just when they are coming through the bone? Who knows. I’m just glad to know what teething is like now!

I know you wrote this a long time ago, but I seriously needed to see it! My kiddo is 13 months old with no teeth, every time he’s crabby we think they’re coming in. NOW I can see that they are, but I didn’t know what to look for until I found this blog! Thanks!

just found your blog & thank God! cause I was totally dorking around on google looking for REAL teething pics, not some stock photo. THANK YOU! Our son turns 9 months on Wednesday and we have no idea what to expect, he’s been “teething” forever (or so I thought!)

I too found your blog when looking for pictures to ease my mind about giving my baby a pain reliever for her teething. My husband was certain that she was and I was still not so sure, but now I am. Thanks for having the forethought to do so!

You sound like me, I’m a new mum and google EVERYTHING! I googled teething gums and your picture came up 🙂 my little girl is only 10 weeks old, and has a small white dot on her bottom gum and has been extra niggly. It looks like your first picture, so I’m intrigued to see if it is a tooth!

Seven years later and a crazy googling mama has hit upon your post. Thank you for sharing. Fingers, toes, eyes crossed that my once super-chill four-month-old pops a tooth soon and emerges from his funk.
