Category Archives: 30 Day Photo Challenge

Just some pictures…

I don’t really have time to write, but I wanted to post some more pictures from the last couple of days. I’ll post the pics from the 30 day photo challenge first:

Yeah…I kind of forgot about this one until late at night. It just so happened that I was walking through Target’s parking lot when I remembered and the lighting made a pretty great shadow on the ground.

I love this one. Benji and I watch the lightening bugs every night so I figured I’d capture them for the long exposure challenge. I really like how this picture turned out.

The next few were taken on the road going to our house:

I am seriously in love with this place. Everything is so beautiful. There’s so much space and air…it’s just glorious. I really hope that it never becomes “normal” to me. I nearly run off the road whenever I’m driving because I just can’t get enough of it. Seriously.

These last pictures are of me, Benji and Harper. We have a tree swing in our backyard so we’ve been spending a ton of time outside. These are from yesterday:

And there you have it. Sorry if I overwhelmed you. My laptop is broken at the moment (I’m using my brother-in-law’s) and I can’t make collages 🙂

Oh, and I think I may have a job…as a nanny. I’ll be caring for a nine month old little boy and Harper will be able to stay with me – so no daycare for him! I’m pretty pumped! I should know for sure by the 29th.

See ya.

We’re home. It took forever, but we are here – YAY! We are renting Benji’s uncle’s house and it is PERFECT! I had seen it five years ago, so I remembered it being cute, but it’s seriously wonderful. It’s old, spacious and just adorable! And…it has a tree swing in the backyard (which is HUGE)! I think I’m most excited about the swing. I could say a million things about the house…the yard…the mountains, but I’ll just post a collage instead (if you click on it, it gets bigger and you can see more detail..just FYI):

I’m in love. IN LOVE!

Okay…here are my 30 day photo challenge photos.

Yeah…I had to take this picture while on the road to VA.

Umm…all of our things were on the U-haul…so I just took a picture with our crap in the background. It looks so junky. I love it.

Aww…Mumbles. He looks so wise in this picture.

Okay. That’s it for now. I’ll update more later about the move. My heart is just overflowing. I have so much to say, but I really don’t even know where to begin.…this…place. I love my life.

30 Day Photo Challenge

Alright, I didn’t update yesterday because of ten on ten, but here are my photos from yesterday and today:

My MaMaw Theo made this. When I was little, she would let me help her make quilts. I love having her quilts around the house because they are a constant reminder of her.

Harper’s eyes aren’t THAT blue – duh! – but I wanted them to stand out, so I made them a little bit crazier than normal. I love his eyes!

So, those are my photos. I probably won’t update tomorrow. I actually don’t know when I’ll update again because after tomorrow, we will be living in Virginia and I’m not sure when/if we’ll have internet again. If it looks like we’re not going to get internet, I’ll go sit in a coffee shop somewhere to update my blog! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

If you think about it, pray for our trip tomorrow.

Day 9: Someone You Love

Today’s photo challenge was easy. The challenge was to take a photo of someone you love. Benji and Harper were the obvious choices, but Benji hates photos. Harper probably will too in time, but for now…he can’t really do anything about it 🙂

He kinda looks like he has makeup on doesn’t he? lol

I decided to take a photo of him during his afternoon nap. I love sneaking in for a peak while he is asleep.  I wonder if I’ll ever get over that. It’d be a little strange if he was 20 and I was still creeping into his room to watch him sleep.

A Bad Habit

Yep. That’s today’s photo challenge:

I decided to go with booga pickin’ because it’s funny. Yeah…it’s also gross, but whateva.

So I found another awesome blog this morning. Let’s just say I’m going to be making headbands like crazy now! I made the headband that was posted to the blog and I added my flower from last night – so there are THREE flowers on my headband! Here ya go:

I have a feeling I will also start using this technique to make some jewelry in the very near future!

And that’s it for the crafts – I know you guys are probably tired of seeing crochet crap. I’ll try to only post craft stuff like once a week! It’s just SO fun! 🙂 Okay…BYE!

This post will be annoying…

because I’m going to post a bunch of pictures AND videos! The first picture is the photo of today’s challege – fruit!

The second photo is of something I made! I found this blog and it is amazing! I’ve been dying to try making a crotchet flower, but up until yesterday, hadn’t really found anything that was very helpful! This post was great! She linked to a video that was extremely easy to follow. I watched it a couple of times and got to work! Here is the finished product:

Umm…I’m excited! I decided to make this little beauty into a hair clip for myself instead of a binky clip for Harp (that’d be a little weird, but I did just see that she linked to a binky clip for boys – a bow tie!). The flower was actually a lot easier to make than I thought it would be and it doesn’t take long AT ALL!

and here are the videos:

This one is just because. He makes fart noises all the time and I love it…

This one is just…adorable. Love his goofy laugh.

and this one is just Harp talking and being silly. He seems to be making new noises now that his teeth are in!

Okay. That’s it for the videos on this post. Sorry to overwhelm you guys.

Oh…and guess what! I’ve had SIX people directed to my blog after searching for “teething gums” so my post the other day was a success! Yay…there are other crazy moms out there who Google everything – just like me! I can’t remember where I saw this, but I ran across someone’s blog yesterday that was titled “Googling My Way Through Motherhood” – LOVE IT!

98 Degrees

Since it’s 98 Degrees in our apartment, let’s take a moment to remember and honor the band 98 Degrees. Remember them? I do (cherish you – that was too easy). I was never really that into them because I was a Backstreet girl. Speaking of Backstreet Boys, they were on TV the other day with New Kids On the Block. It…was…terrible, but I couldn’t peel my eyes away from the screen. It sounded so bad that my ears were in pain, but I couldn’t stop watching. Maybe that was their goal? I’m still a BSB girl. Always and foreva.

Today’s photo challenge was to take a picture from a low angle. Since our air conditioner is out, we’ve been spending A LOT of time outside (believe it or not, it is cooler outside than it is inside the apt). Benji was playing with Harper so I decided I’d make that my picture of the day. Here ya go:

I love his little chub chub legs in this photo! We’ve pretty much been keeping him naked since we got home yesterday since it’s so hot. If he wouldn’t pee everywhere, I wouldn’t even bother putting a diaper on him (I bought size four and they are WAY too big!). I can’t imagine wearing a diaper with it being so hot! Yuck! Poor Harp. This hasn’t even phased him though. He has done nothing but laugh and play all day, even though he is obviously burning up!

Benji and I have been calling and harassing our landlords for nearly 24 hours now. Having Harper around has helped to improve our mood a bit, thankfully. You can’t help but smile when you have Harp making all these faces at you…

Photo Challenge

I took a picture yesterday, but I didn’t have time to post it. It was a crazy day! I drove to Tuscaloosa from Pleasant Grove and went to meet my friend Misty’s new baby – he’s awesome! Afterwards, I shopped around with my pal Susanna for a couple of hours. After that, I helped prepare/set up for a bridal shower honoring my dear friend Katie. After that, we threw said bridal shower. After that, we went out for drinks for her bachelorette party! See…I told you it was a busy day!

I almost forgot about the photo challenge. The challenge was to take a picture of something green. It was about 11:15PM when it hit me that I hadn’t taken a photo for the day. Lucky for me, I was sitting in front of a wall that had a lot of things written on it – and most were written in green marker! Most were also too inappropriate to post on the blog. I did eventually find something that wouldn’t make you folks cringe. This:

Today’s photo challenge was to take a photo from a high angle. I’m not going to lie. I got a little lazy with this one. We drove back to Memphis this morning, and realized that our air conditioner had broken sometime while we were gone (it is currently 95 degrees in our apartment – yay!). This is the third time our air conditioner has broken in less than a year – the units are at least 30 years old and just need to be replaced! Needless to say, I’m tired and I don’t feel like going out and finding some high up place and taking an artsy photo. I settled for lying on the ground with Benji and Harper and holding the camera above us while making it look like I was picking Harper’s boogers. Enjoy:

Misty, I just now looked at all the other photo challenges and realized they get harder! I actually had to Google one of them (bokeh…what the crap? I’ve never even heard of that). Some of those really are going to be challenges. Fun times.

Beauty & Devastation

Today’s photo challenge was to take a picture of clouds. When I first went outside this morning, I thought I’d have to get a little creative because it was way way ugly outside and there wasn’t a cloud in sight. Benji and I took a trip to Hobby Lobby, and by the time we got home there were clouds everywhere. I decided to take a picture of the road going into my mom’s neighborhood. She lives in the Highland Forest area of Pleasant Grove. Our house missed being damaged by about 500 feet – it was a close call! Highland Forest only has one road to get in and out of the neighborhood, so everyone that lives there has to see the damage whenever they leave or return home.

I’ve had mixed feelings whenever I’ve seen a beautiful, sunny sky behind the destruction in Pleasant Grove and Tuscaloosa. I don’t know. It just seems so contradictory. When I went home the weekend after the storm, I got angry when I saw the beauty behind the devastation. I remember telling someone that I wanted to punch the sky because it shouldn’t have been that beautiful after so much loss. It was almost like the sun was laughing at everything.

When I drive through Pleasant Grove now, I appreciate the sunny background. It may not reflect the landscape, but it certainly reflects the spirit of this community. “Knocked down, but not destroyed” – that phrase always comes to mind. It’s so true of Pleasant Grove (and T-town). As it turns out, I’m thankful that the sky doesn’t match the landscape – can you imagine if it did? Yuck!

I hope you guys enjoy this photo as much as I do. It’s a beautiful reminder that while Pleasant Grove and Tuscaloosa will never be what they were, they will be beautiful again!

It’ll just be a new kind of beautiful!

Photo Challenge: Day 2

Today’s photo challenge was to take a picture of what you were wearing. Well…my outfit was pretty boring (they usually are) so I decided to take a bunch of different pictures of it and then piece them together. I figured that’d make it a little more interesting. Anyways, here is the finished product:

I was wearing a brown tank top, jeans and silver sandals. Boring. I have about three sets of arms in the collage 🙂 I took all of these myself. I tried to be in different locations when I took them – that’s why there are so many different tones, angles, backgrounds, etc. It’s funny how you can look really tan in one area, and then really pale in another (notice the difference between my arms and neck). Anyways, today was fun and super busy! I took bridal portraits for my dear friend Katie who is getting married later this month! It was blazin’ hot – gotta love Bama – and this outfit served me well! Thanks, boring outfit! I will forever by grateful to you!

Nite Nite.
